Thanks to one of my members who brought up about making money with twitter. On Aug. 26, their new company TwittAd launched and became the first company to sell ads on Twitter.

How TwittAd works:

1. Twitter users go to TwittAd and sign up for an account so advertisers can purchase their profile backgrounds. (Advertisers can also search profiles to target who they want to advertise with.)

2. TwittAd confirms the user profile.

3. Twitter users name the value of their Twitter page. To make sure their estimate is reasonable and sellable, they can check their profile worth on TwittAd’s brainchild, whatsyourtweetworth.com. Then they select how long they want an ad displayed: seven days, 15 days, one month or three months.

4. If an ad is offered, Twitter users have 24 hours to accept or deny the ad.

5. Twitter users upload the ad to their page and notify TwittAd that the ad is displayed. This triggers the payment process so Twitter users can start making money.

Press: A week after its launch, TwittAd was featured in Mashable and TechCrunch, two tech news blogs. More recently, Eliasonand TwittAd were featured on Forbes.com.

Future developments: Eliason hopes Twitter will eventually have clickable backgrounds so that people can go directly to advertisements. Right now,TwittAd relies on users to see the ad and go to their Web site or business on their own. “Currently, in some sense, it’s like advertising in a magazine or newspaper,” he said.
