Do you want to start your own business making money online? You have several different ways to go. Most of them will require very little money to start and they can be up and making you a full time income in a few short months.

There are a few things you will need to keep in mind so you make money and don’t just spend money:

1. Narrow down the type of business you want to start. For most people it will be between affiliate marketing and network marketing. They are similar, in both cases you will make an income when you refer someone to the product or service you are selling and they buy.

But in the case of network marketing you will be building an organization. Every time you sign someone up they will join your organization and you will get a commission on every thing that they sell as well as everything you sell.

2. Make sure you don’t get sucked in to the hype that is online. It is totally possible to make mind numbing income online, after all you can market to pretty much the whole world, but it won’t happen overnight or with no effort.

3. This point relates to #2, if you get sucked into believing the hype you will inevitably get disappointed when it doesn’t work and then you will skip around to find the next ‘sure thing’. If you keep skipping around like that, you’ll never make any money.

4. With both affiliate marketing and network marketing businesses your major job will be to get traffic to your website (in both cases you′ll get a website directly from the company whose product you are promoting).

There are many ways to drive traffic. You will need to learn the ins and outs of one method. Find one that you are interested in, can afford and learn all you can. Once you′ve perfected that method, find another. Eventually you′ll want at least 3 different methods for driving traffic to your website.

5. Make sure that you start slow and small. The initial investment will be quite low whichever type of business you start. For the most part you need money to buy a course to learn how to drive traffic and you′ll also need some money to place ads online to get traffic.

We’re now going to talk about an online marketplace called Clickbank that has been established to help Affiliate Marketers, vendors and normal people solve all their problems at the same time.

As just mentioned, Clickbank is what I like to call a “virtual marketplace”. The name is sort of misleading; it sounds like a name you would give to a bank that only exists online. If you’ve ever been to a local market, they have tables set up. At these tables, regular people are selling their home-made goods and other unique goods to the general public.

Clickbank is no different. There are hundreds, if not thousands of these “tables” set up in Clickbank. They are arranged categorically as well. The biggest difference between Clickbank and a “real” marketplace is that people don’t visit the market on a Sunday and walk between the tables, looking at what’s being sold.

Instead, people who want or need a solution to their problems are sent to a specific table in the “marketplace” to look at particular good or service that is supposed to aid them with their problem. Who are they sent by? An affiliate marketer, of course.

The deal is, if an affiliate marketer sends someone to a vendor and that person ends up buying whatever the vendor sold, the affiliate marketer gets a referral commission. The means by which the affiliate sends through visitors to the vendors “table” are varied; the affiliate can write an article, through which a visitor will read and then click on a link at the end that will direct them to the vendor’s product.

The affiliate can also use paid advertising, such as Pay Per Click via Google’s ad network or maybe an online classified advertisement. The affiliate marketer can also form a relationship with his or her readers and send emails promoting products.

So basically that’s how Clickbank works. It’s a popular way for many people to get started in Internet Marketing, especially as an Affiliate Marketer. In the next few modules, you’ll learn about traffic, it’s different forms and just exactly why it’s so important to Internet Marketers.

In the previous lesson, I gave you a more formal definition of marketing. I spoke of supply and demand and how without one component, you couldn’t make any money. I then presented you the problem where you might have identified a potentially profitable audience with a high demand, but you just didn’t have the knowledge to supply them with something they wanted.

That’s one of the beautiful things about marketing. Someone is bound to produce the supply for it, sooner or later. It’s easy for someone to sit around and mope all day about a problem that they have. It’s a lot harder to come up with a solution. Of course, if the problem is severe enough, people will start being resourceful and will create a solution.
If these people are smart and realize that their solution could be potentially profitable, they can promote it to other people who have the same problem. Of course, depending on how widespread your problem is, you could be interacting with literally thousands if not tens of thousands of people around the globe.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but time is money after all. You could make the same amount of money with half the work. How? By promoting your information to affiliate marketers!

Affiliate marketers are the ones who will promote your information for you, as long as you give them a cut of the profits. If there’s anyone who fits the bill of the “problem-solving middleman”, it’s the affiliate marketer.

Notice that the initial definition of marketing still applies to Affiliate Marketing;

there are still people who demand information. There is still a supply of information, just that it doesn’t belong to you. You can still connect the two parties by being an affiliate.

The best thing about Affiliate Marketing is that you can get started straight away. You don’t need your own product (which can take weeks, if not months to create). You don’t even need your own website. All you need is a brain that is in the marketing mindset. You have to be able to identify a strong demand and be able to find information (or real products) which you can supply.
